Compare Group has a modern and future proof (software) microservice architecture. Our software stack is running on premise (Datacenter in Hilversum) and in the cloud (Amazon Web Services). Our microservices are mainly built in Java and our websites with the Vue / Nuxt framework.

Our (Linux-driven) hardware and architecture need to be replaced so the business requirements for performance and stability can be met. Your job responsibilities will be true devOps. You will be working on the renewal of our hardware and networking in our datacenter. Next to that it would be nice if you can improve and extend our AWS architecture. Besides these operations tasks there will be time to support the IT team in maintain and building new applications.

What we’re looking for:

• You’ve worked in a similar position
• You’re medior / senior experience in:
  • Linux
  • Hardware /Networking architecture
  • On-premise hardware
  • AWS / Cloud knowledge
  • Java development
  • Databases
  • SAN and Backup
• Know how to build web based responsive (mobile) applications.
• Be able to work in a small (remote) team with a lot of responsibilities.

Other Skills/Abilities:

• You have a strong ability to work independently.
• You are communicative, with excellent analytical skills, allowing you to break down complex problems.
• You approach challenges in a pragmatic and hands-on way, always looking for practical solutions.
• You have a keen attention to detail and prefer to take the time to ensure quality rather than opting for the quickest way out.
• You are fluent in English, Dutch is a pre.

A Big Plus If You Have:

• Knowledge of VMware (or simular)
• Elastic Search
• Mongo DB
• Rabbit MQ Messaging
• Understand and/or used other technologies we use like Java, Spring, Maven, Git, NoSQL, REST, NGINX

About the IT team
This team is responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of our IT landscape. One generic and proprietary product comparison software platform is used for all our sites. Our architecture is based on a microservice-oriented platform with the use of open-source technologies such as Java and Linux. The team is small and works mainly remotely and is very effective and efficient. This is possible because we have a "no-nonsense" mentality and try to avoid project management overhead by doing a lot as we call it "structured-adhoc-approach".

• The gross monthly salary starts at € 5.500,- up to € 6.500,- depending on your experience.
